SCIMAGO Institutions Rankings 2017 ranks top 12 Slovak universities (with at least 100 publications included in Elsevier Scopus), amongst them Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra (UKF) obtained the 5th rank. UKF has reached the best results since 2013 when it was included in SIR for the first time. In total, UKF ranked 630th, which is an improvement of 32 positions compared to previous years, and of 19 positions in comparison to the last year (649th in 2016, 644th in 2015, 645th in 2014 and 662nd in 2013).

Let us mention that the purpose of SIR evaluation is to point out the scientific, economic and social characteristics of research institutions around the world (SIR ranks about 130 countries). According to SIR methodology, the ranks reflect the so called “composite indicator” comprising data from three main areas: research (50%), innovation (30%) and social impact (20%).

UKF in Nitra shows constant improvement in the field of science and research, which has enhanced its overall ranking results. By the composite indicator (on the scale of 0-100), UKF in Nitra ranked in 2016 in overall ranking the 80th, and in science and research the 73rd. In 2017, UKF in Nitra ranked as 71st in overall ranking, and as 64th in science and research.  However, innovations and societal impacts are lower, but given the weight of research in the composite indicator (50% of the overall score), the overall ranking of our university has significantly improved.
