Nitra geographers on the roof of Africa

On July 5-16, 2016 the national quest to ascent the highest mountain of Africa – Uhuru Peak, Mt. Kilimanjaro (5,895 AMSL) was conducted by the Slovak Society of Geography, Slovak Academy of Sciences, Bratislava. The ascent was dedicated to the hundredth anniversary of the birth of Professor Michael Lukniš, a distinguished Slovak geographer and the native of a nearby village Zlatna, who worked at Comenius University

UKF graduate Matej Tóth Olympic champion

After the last year's world champion title, Slovak race walker Matej Tóth achieved another outstanding success. Summer School of Archaeology 2016

In the period from 18th July to 12th August 2016 Department of Archaeology, Faculty of Arts of Constantine the Philosopher University in Nitra performed  the seventh year of the International Summer School of Archaeology in the castle Pustý Hrad near Zvolen and Peťuša castle. This season brought also exploration of a new archeological site Bakova jama near Zvolen where the primeval settlement was anticipated to be revealed.
